Casual update before I run off to errands : )

Everything's been flying by lately and there's always something to update but so little time. I have many friends getting married this year, received a job that I'm ever so blessed with that allows me to still have a life, signed myself up for the commitment required to do FreshBatchDesigns effectively and finally take it to the next level(YAY!), spread the word about the dalits and their need for education, committed myself to working out, cooking more at home, dipping my foot into wedding planning, and much more..

Gosh, it's a lot of stuff but so far so good. A thought came to my mind. A lot of things we do requires a positive attitude and positive thinking. You may feel downcast and hopeless in your own situation today but I want to remind you that there's nothing like a pick me up. Find someone who believes in you and let them tell you that you can. Find the voice inside your head and let that tell you that you can. Deep inside you really have to find faith in the things that look impossible in your life right now. If you always think about the negative outcomes and possibilities, they are countless I must say, and those negative outcomes will always find a way of creeping into your life. It's not to say that thinking positive means it will always yield positive results, but being in the negative will most often yield you bad ones. You would have set yourself up for the worst and your attitude would follow. So with that being said, let's try to change that attitude because your thinking influences the way you act and respond in life.

One thing I've wondered about sharing was how I got my job. I think a lot of people would find it a bit weird but for me I know it's God sent. How often does a job find you vs you finding that job? Well, it happened. It obviously wasn't in my hands and it happened not accordingly to my own plans thank God. Maybe talk about that next time.

Have you liked my Facebook page yet? FreshBatchDesigns is getting ready for the summer!! You won't want to miss my re-launch!

If you're having a crappy day, let me know in the comments. If you want *hints* on what I'm up to, drop me a comment too. : ) Til next time!

"I'm actually married"

Back when I used to work at the coffee shop, there was this time when a gentleman came up to me to order his coffee. Typical day. He ain't bad looking and looked like he just rolled out of bed and went straight to work. When a dude ain't bad looking after he just rolled outta bed, he could potentially be pretty good looking on normal days, right?

Besides the point, he stopped by for a coffee.

"What can I get for you? You look like you had a late night."
"Yea.. I did."
*Proceeds to talk about his tiredness and going to work, where he works etc.*
"You look like you need a coffee.. like right NOW. Latte? Regular coffee?"
"Sure we could go out for a coffee."
"Sorry?"
"I mean... you want to go out for coffee sometime? Can I get your number?"
He's asking me out? He's asking me out.
"Oh. Well that would be nice but I'm actually married. Sorry, but thanks though."
I instinctively showed my hand wearing the ring to him.
"Oh ok lol I didn't see that. Sorry about that."
"That's ok lol."
*Proceeds with ordering a coffee and pays*

That's the first and so far only time I had to pull out the "I'm married" rejection line. Have you ever had to tell someone you're taken? Or does someone normally interrupt the conversation and tell the other person for you?

First Day On The Job

*Customer calls in*
"I'm looking for your boss."
"Oh he's not in right now. Can I take a message?"
"Sure. Can you tell him that his  p.... (inaudible) washer is ready?"
"His personal washer is ready?"
"No. His power washer is ready."
"Oh sorry lol alright I'll let him know."

*Talking to Boss on the phone*
"Just wanted to let you know your power washer is ready."
"Oh ok thanks, though I never asked for one but great lol."

-_- I am so on it.

When Quitting Is The Right Decision

People normally say: "never quit, never give up," but some situations will require you to give up in order to acquire.

Sometimes it could mean an easy acquisition cause the trade off is definitely a better one. Other times it could mean trading off security for insecurity. Maybe there's growth pains involved. Maybe your decision is not accepted by everyone or perhaps it means going backwards in order to go forward...

I said: "I'm so moving on. March" on my Facebook status a while back. I'm moving on now. I worked my last shifts at the coffee shop and I'm starting a new opportunity with a fresh start-up company doing some design work, utilizing what my brain and body was trained for: sitting in front of a computer and coming up with ingenious and aesthetically functional digital designs.

I know it doesn't sound super amazing but this opportunity is going to help me leap into my next stage, my next chapter in my business and personal life. I don't know how long I would be at this company or whether they would keep me on the team for however long but there's no time to wonder. At this stage it is the perfect blessing, the answer to my prayers. And for that I am grateful for it and that I had made the right decision.

When you give up the right things in life, you get closer to your dreams. So what do you need to quit (doing) today in order to shape your tomorrow?

Cats Will Eat You

Random convo with DUDE.

DUDE: "You know they say cats will eat you if you die first right?"

ME: "What?! Really? If anything I think I'll out live my cat... "

if anything I'll eat my cat before she eats me...

Well that's an uncomfortable thought. I guess I see cats in the same position as... well, ok this might be offensive but as a chicken or a fish. What I mean is bottom of the food chain. Cats eating humans is wrong. OK comparing my cat to a chicken is wrong but depending on the culture you're talking to you'll get a different reaction and opinion on that. I guess it was weird that this conversation was brought up since my husband and I would joke about barbecuing our cat every now and then. Just a random thing we throw in there whenever our cat starts fattening up.

According to a few sites on Google people say that cats see their owners as a food source and unlike dogs who would stand by you, mourn, then eat you as their last option, cats just go right ahead cause their survival instinct kicks in. Your relationship with them means nothing.

My husband thinks our loyal little Misto wouldn't eat us. Well, she is a bit different than your typical cat. She'll greet you at the door when you come home, jump into your lap when you're feeling sick, lick your hand and rub against your leg when you're feeling down, whine EVERY SINGLE NIGHT like she's been abandoned when you close the bedroom door on her to go to bed even though she knows very well you come back out each morning...

So ok she wouldn't eat us. But c'mon really? I guess even if it's true it's nothing compared to cannibalism. But then again I wouldn't be able to care anyway if I was dead so what the hey.

Convo with CAT after coming home from random convo with DUDE:

"You wouldn't eat me when I'm dead right? You better not."

Fun & Modern Wedding Invitations

Fun and modern. These are the two words that describe a wedding that I had the privilege of designing invitations for that's going to be happening this spring! The color theme is a vibrant coral and a mint shade of green.

More photos to come! Better hustle before husband runs off to the gym without me.

Hi I'm 5' 1"

About three years ago in Vegas, my husband and I were eating at the Wynn Buffet. At that time I think I ate more dessert than I ever did in my life. It must've been game over when we both realized how much crabs legs we had, or was it when he realized he was fully stuffed and yet I had just returned to our table with my round two.

Hi I'm 5' 1" weighing in at 106 lbs. I'm at a healthy weight for my size and frame along with a healthy body fat percentage range. However, for a while I was ashamed of being petite for various reasons:

  • Feeling like I had to prove to others that I ate
  • Feeling ashamed that I really wanted to eat a salad and not junk food
  • Having to explain that I'm not on a diet
  • Having to explain that I do workout
  • Looking like I "could use a sandwich"
  • etc.

That was the case until I stumbled across Amanda Russell's website. Amanda is a fitness trainer/guru and she is petite. I would say maybe more petite than me but she has a lot of lean muscle on her. I read up a bit on her and realized that because of her physique a lot of the times people would tell her to "go eat a sandwich," a line that I'm familiar with hearing as well.

I know, I don't need reassurance from others on whether I'm healthy or not and how I look but sometimes I want to be the standard. Just like how bigger people want to look standard. What is standard?? Perhaps it's the ideal body that the world and media is telling us we all ought to have even if it's not in our genes to look a certain way. I don't mean that if you're fat then your excuse would be genetics. I'm talking about body shape. For instance, if you're a pear then you're a pear. Don't wish that you're a ruler. It's about working out your body to look your best, not to fit into someone's ideal version of you.

If you're someone who's bigger than me you're probably thinking that I would never understand how many women want to be my size, or that I'm so lucky to be thin and have skinny genes. Well I want to tell you that it's not about that at all. I may not understand your situation but I can understand low self esteem, dissatisfaction, negative body image, and media influences. The bottom line is it's not that different when it comes down to not being happy with yourself. We've all gone down that road.

So I'm 5' 1", doing good now. : )
